Fire Breaks Out at Plastic Warehouse Near Bapunagar Crossroads in Ahmedabad
A major fire incident was reported on Sunday evening at a plastic warehouse near Bapunagar Crossroads in Ahmedabad, triggering an emergency response from fire and police authorities.
The blaze, which broke out at a factory manufacturing plastic materials, sent thick plumes of smoke into the sky, visible from far-off areas and causing panic among locals.
Additional Chief Fire Officer Mihir Rana stated that the fire department received the distress call at approximately 8:15 pm. Initial response teams from the control room and Gomtipur Fire Station were rushed to the spot without delay. As the intensity of the fire became apparent, reinforcements were quickly mobilised.
In total, 9 to 10 fire tenders, along with one fighter vehicle, two mini-fighter units, and several officers' vehicles, were deployed to tackle the blaze. Firefighters worked intensively to contain the fire, which was fueled by plastic granules and moulded plastic products stored at the site under the name 'Spect Case'.
Despite the scale of the fire and the thick smoke that spread across the surrounding area, authorities confirmed that no casualties or injuries have been reported. Officials also stated that approximately 90% of the fire has been brought under control.
Cooling operations are currently underway to ensure that the fire does not reignite. Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the fire once the situation is completely stabilised.
