Tesla Model YL India Launch: Price ₹61.99 Lakh, 681 km Range, 6-Seater SUV
Tesla has officially launched the extended version of its popular electric SUV, the Tesla Model YL , in the Indian market.
Positioned as the longest and most spacious variant of the Model Y lineup, the new Model YL comes with a starting ex-showroom price of ₹61.99 lakh, making it around ₹2.10 lakh more expensive than the standard Model Y.
The highlight of the Model YL is its extended dimensions and improved practicality. The SUV is 179 mm longer than the standard version, with a 150 mm longer wheelbase and a slightly increased height. This expansion allows Tesla to offer a 6-seater (2+2+2) configuration, making it more suitable for families and premium buyers looking for additional space and comfort.
In terms of design, the Model YL retains Tesla's signature minimalist styling while incorporating subtle enhancements. It features new 19-inch aero alloy wheels, a sleek LED light bar at the front, flush door handles for better aerodynamics, and connected LED tail lamps at the rear. A black spoiler further enhances its sporty appeal.
Inside the cabin, the SUV continues Tesla's minimalistic design philosophy. A large 16-inch touchscreen infotainment system dominates the dashboard, controlling almost all vehicle functions. Notably, the car does not feature a traditional instrument cluster, with all driving information displayed on the central screen. Additional features include a panoramic glass roof, ventilated and heated seats for the second row, wireless charging, an 18-speaker premium audio system, and a rear-seat display for passengers.
Performance-wise, the Model YL is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup paired with an 82 kWh battery pack. The front motor produces 193 PS, while the rear motor delivers 269 PS. Tesla claims a WLTP-certified driving range of up to 681 km on a single charge, making it one of the longest-range electric SUVs available in India. The vehicle can achieve a top speed of 201 km/h.
On the safety front, Tesla has equipped the Model YL with a comprehensive suite of features, including six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and parking sensors. The SUV also comes with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) as standard. Additionally, buyers have the option to upgrade to Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) package at an extra cost, further enhancing the vehicle's autonomous capabilities.
Bookings for the Model YL have already begun, and deliveries are expected to commence soon. With its combination of long range, spacious cabin, and cutting-edge technology, the Model YL is set to strengthen Tesla's presence in India's growing electric vehicle market.
