Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won their second successive Indian Premier League (IPL). Rajat Patidar and his men beat the Gujarat Titans by five wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
It was veteran batter Virat Kohli who led the chase with 75 not out and hit the winning runs with a massive six. The franchise posted a short video on their social media accounts where the cricketer was seen dancing with his wife, Anushka Sharma. The couple seemed to be in a happy mood as the Bengaluru side had created history. Patidar and his men became the third side after Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians to successfully retain their IPL title.

Shubman Gill scored ten runs while Sai Sudharsan was out for 12. The best batter for Gujarat was Washington Sundar with 50 not out from 37 balls. Rasikh Salam Dar was the leading wicket-taker for his side with 3/27 from his four overs. In reply, RCB go off to a blazing start, scoring 70 runs in the first six, out of which Venkatesh Iyer scored 32 off just 16 balls.
Devdutt Padikkal was then dismissed for one by Kagiso Rabada, while Rashid Khan got the wickets of Rajat and Krunal Pandya in a space of three balls. Virat, though, held on as he smashed his fastest fifty in the league to help his side cross the line. Former India skipper named player of the match The 37-year-old opening batter notched up his highest score in the IPL finals and was named the player of the match. Speaking at the end of the game, India’s former skipper was asked if he had saved his best knock for the finals, “It’s the stuff one dreams of. It was always my dream to be standing at the wicket when the team is winning the IPL.” Veteran batter also spoke about recording his fastest fifty in the league and said, “It is the demand of the sport. There are super young players coming through and pushing you, so it’s exciting to change the game and also gives me a chance to work on something and improve my game.”
