KL Rahul needs 170 runs in SL vs IND Test series to complete 10,000 international runs

KL Rahul is one of the important members of the Test and ODI teams. He has been consistent with the bat, posting important runs in bilateral series and ICC tournaments.

The right-handed batter opens the innings in red-ball cricket, while he bats in the lower-middle order in the fifty-over format, with additional wicket-keeping duties. He was last seen in action during the ENG vs IND three-match ODI series but was not among the runs, leading to criticism. After his superb batting display for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2026, a lot was expected from him in England, but he was found wanting after getting demoted in the batting order. Rahul will now play against Sri Lanka, with the selectors naming him in the 15-member squad for two Test matches, starting August 15. He will be eying a huge feat in the Island country.

He needs 170 runs to complete 10,000 runs in international cricket for India. Rahul has amassed 9830 runs in 238 international appearances for the Indian National Cricket Team. He has a top score of 199 runs and has hit 22 centuries. The Bengaluru-based player has hit 62 half-centuries.

Sachin Tendulkar is leading the list of Indian batters for most runs, having played 664 international matches. He scored 34,357 runs, packed 100 centuries and 164 fifties. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja has been recalled to the side after missing the on-off Test against Afghanistan. He was injured during the Indian Premier League 2026. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Dhruv Jurel, Manav Suthar, Mohammed Siraj and Devdutt Padikkal are also returning for the series.

Jasprit Bumrah and Sai Sudharsan's availability is subject to fitness. The two-match series is a part of the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship cycle. India are currently in the fifth spot after four wins, four defeats and a draw. The sub-continent team has 52 points with a PCT of 48.15 per cent. The Men in Blue recently played against Zimbabwe and won the T20I series by a margin of 3-0 under Shreyas Iyer's captaincy. Earlier, India had lost to Ireland and England in the slam-bang version of the game, remaining winless across seven matches.
