The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will have one of the most anticipated matches of the season on March 28, 2025. It is the battle between two big teams - CSK (Chennai Super Kings) and RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore).
CSK vs RCB will be played at 7:30 PM at CSK’s home ground – MA Chindambaram stadium. CSK has had a great track record against RCB at this stadium.
Big Setback for CSK
CSK has the home ground advantage, as well as the confidence of winning the first match. At the same time, RCB is also coming off a win against KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) in the first game of the season.
But there’s one major setback for the Chennai dugout. Chennai’s star bowler, Matheesha Pathirana is not going to be playing the match on March 28, 2025, against Bangalore. This has been confirmed by the management.
Stephen Fleming Confirms Pathirana to Miss Out CSK vs RCB
Fleming said in the pre-match interview that Pathirana is still injured and will miss out the encounter against RCB. Pathirana has a slinging action, almost identical to Lasith Malinga’s action and is quite hard to hit for the batsman. For CSK, Pathirana has played20 matches, in which the Sri Lankan bowler has taken 34 wickets at an economy rate of just 7.88.
Even the best of batsman find it hard to hit Pathirana. RCB will be happy about this development. Fleming said that CSK will likely not change the middle order in the match against RCB in the interview. This is because CSK has only played one match, and that too the team won it.
Matheesha Pathirana
CSK is quite tough to beat in any venue, and it becomes an even harder job when the Gaikwad led team plays in Chennai. The last time CSK vs RCB happened in 2024, RCB had won the game and moved on to the qualifiers. CSK will certainly be looking to take the revengehere and stay on top of the table with a win.
