Railways pacer Himanshu Sangwan called dismissing Virat Kohli in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match against Delhi a 'dream come true' and a 'special moment.' Kohli, playing his first Ranji Trophy match since 2012, was bowled for 6 by Sangwan.

The right-arm pacer got one through the gap between bat and pad, dislodging the star batter’s off stump. Speaking about the dismissal, the excited 29-year-old shared his reaction with ANI:

“People across India draw inspiration from Virat. Picking his wicket was a special moment for me. It was a dream come true."

“With Virat bhaiya, the Ranji Trophy is gaining such importance. It feels so good. We get to learn a lot from them (players from the national team playing in Ranji). Sharing the dressing room with them is a huge thing,” the Railways pacer added.

Kohli played a brilliant straight drive during his innings but failed to meet expectations as Sangwan bowled a perfect delivery, proving too much for the experienced batter. Despite Kohli’s dismissal, Delhi finished Day 2 at 334-7 in their first innings. Captain Ayush Badoni led with a quickfire 99 off 77 balls, while Sumit Mathur remained not out on 78 from 189 balls.

Virat Kohli Struggles with Batting Form

Kohli has been facing a tough time with the bat in red-ball cricket for some time now. There was a period when he averaged over 50 in Test matches. However, after 123 matches, his tally stands at 9,230 runs, with an average of 46.85.

The former India captain played 10 Tests in 2024, accumulating just 417 runs in 19 innings at a disappointing average of 24.52, with one century and one fifty. He scored a ton in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth but ended the series with only 190 runs in nine innings.

Kohli couldn’t find his form in the New Year Test against Australia in Sydney either, scoring just 17 and 6, as India lost by six wickets, trailing 3-1 in the five-match series.
