[WATCH] MS Dhoni Hits Helicopter Shot In CSK Nets

Mahendra Singh Dhoni or MS Dhoni was seen playing his signature shot during a recent nets session in Chennai. Dhoni will appear yet again for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the upcoming IPL (India Premier League) 2025. In the nets, practising against one of the best ballers CSK has - Matheesha Pathirana, Dhoni hit his signature helicopter shot.

The former Indian and CSK captain used to play this shot quite frequently in the early phase of his career. But later on, as bowlers understood Dhoni's strengths, they gave him less and less opportunity to play the helicopter shot during the games.

In the video below, you can see that Pathirana bowled an over pitched delivery and Dhoni played the helicopter shot against it. The video was shared by Chennai Super Kings on their X (formerly Twitter) profile.

Dhoni Plays Helicopter Shot after a Long Time

Dhoni was tasked the role of the finisher in IPL 2024 where he played 14 games and scored at a strike rate of 220.55. MSD will likely play the role of the aggressor this season as well. While MSD doesn't play international cricket anymore, he still looked pretty good and comfortable in the previous season.

Ruturaj Gaikwad is leading CSK in yet another season of the IPL and he of course is aided with the mentorship of MS Dhoni who stands behind the wickets. CSK will play its first game against Mumbai Indians at the M. A. Chidambaram stadium on March 23, 2025. The tickets for the game will go on sale pretty soon.

CSK will want to come back stronger in the upcoming IPLseason, especially as the team couldn't make it into the play-offs last year. Ravichandran Ashwin, a local Chennai boy has joined the team this year, and it will be interesting to see if he plays all the games in Chennai or not.
