Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rishabh Pant endured another disappointing outing with the bat in the IPL 2026 clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede Stadium on Monday, May 4. The wicketkeeper-batter was dismissed for 15 off 10 deliveries, with Will Jacks claiming his wicket as Ryan Rickelton completed a neat catch behind the stumps.

The left-hander has struggled for consistency this season, scoring 204 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of 128.30, with just one half-century to his name. LSG had retained him for a massive INR 27 crore ahead of the 2026 auction. In the previous season (IPL 2025), Pant accumulated 269 runs in 13 innings at a strike rate of 133.17.

Rishabh Pant Backs Sanjiv Goenka Amid LSG's Difficult Season

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rishabh Pant acknowledged that the team has gone through a challenging campaign in the ongoing IPL 2026, while also drawing attention to the difficulties faced by owner Sanjiv Goenka.

Speaking at the toss before their Match 47 encounter against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Pant admitted the side's struggles and noted that Goenka has had a particularly tough time, given his strong involvement and passion for the team.

"One thing we always found out, it's been a tough season for us and there is no running away from that, but one person for us who has had the most difficult time was our owner Mr. Goenka. He's one of those guys, everyone knows how passionate he is about cricket and about his team," Pant said.

LSG are enduring a disappointing campaign, having won only two of their first eight matches. Pant conceded that the team has fallen short of expectations and also issued an apology to the fans for the results so far, while assuring them of a strong comeback.
