The Wankhede Stadium crowd cheered loudly when stand-in Mumbai Indians captain Suryakumar Yadav confirmed that Rohit Sharma is back in the playing XI for the IPL 2026 match against the Lucknow Super Giants on Monday, May 4. 

<p style="margin-top: 0px;" >Rohit had missed the last few matches because of a hamstring injury he suffered last month. There had been a lot of talk about his return after he was seen practicing and positive updates came from the Mumbai Indians camp. </p><p>He was even expected to play in the recent match against the Chennai Super Kings, but didn&apos;t make the final team. Now, he has recovered in time for the game against LSG, which is a big boost for Mumbai Indians. The team had struggled to find the right opening pair without him, trying players like Quinton de Kock, Ryan Rickelton, Will Jacks, and Danish Malewar. </p><nh-chunk-delimit />
