When Ravi Shastri Was Embarrassed By His Dream Date

Things are not quite going well for India head coach Ravi Shastri at the moment. The team recently returned from England after being thrashed 4-1 in the Tests. Prior to that, India had also lost the ODI series 2-1.

The world number one Test side did give England a good challenge in most of the games but just could not make the most of the pressure they created. On the other hand, the hosts pounced upon those opportunities and ended up thrashing the visitors. Not surprisingly, Shastri is facing the heat after India lost yet another overseas Test series. So amidst all this, we recall a moment when Shastri faced an embarrassing situation.

The incident dates back to the time when Shastri was playing for India and was a heartthrob among the ladies. In his prime, Shastri was quite a head turner and dated numerous women. However, his dream to date Argentina tennis player Gabriela Sabatini ended in utter embarrassment.

Shastri had publicly expressed his desire of dating the Argentine beauty. However, when Sabatini was asked about the India star, she ended up saying: "Who Ravi Shastri?"

Well, Shastri has not lost the playboy image till date. He was recently linked with Bollywood actress Nimrat Kaur. Both Shastri and Nimrat, however, were quick to rubbish the rumours.

Meanwhile, Shastri recently said he is not distracted by the criticism in the wake of defeat in England. He also insisted that the team is heading in the right direction.

"Absolutely not," Shastri told ESPNcricinfo when asked if he was distracted by the criticism. "Last one to press the panic button when I see so many positives. I head back home with a very positive state of mind. I know exactly what we do. I know exactly and clearly where the team is heading - it is heading in the right direction.

"People are entitled to their opinions. As long as we know the job we are doing and we are honest to our jobs, as long as support staff we are helping players channelise their energies in the right direction, we are not worried about what critics say," he added.
