Aakash Chopra has hailed Gurnoor Brar as the standout young fast bowler in India lately. The former opening batter shared this opinion after Brar took an impressive 10 wickets in the second unofficial Test between India A and Sri Lanka A at the Galle International Stadium.
The right-arm seamer shone brightly, claiming four wickets in Sri Lanka's first innings and six in the second. His stellar performance helped India A clinch the match by 10 wickets, securing a 1-0 victory in the two-match series.
"Gurnoor Brar. As much as we have seen him, the guy is impressive. He has picked up 10 wickets just now against Sri Lanka A. He was picking up wickets in all the games he played for India," he responded when asked on his YouTube channel to name a fast bowler who has great potential.
Brar made his international debut just last month during the ODI series against Afghanistan. While Chopra pointed out that Afghanistan isn't the strongest opponent, he couldn't help but be impressed by Brar's performance, as he took seven wickets across three games more than any other bowler in the series.
"Of course, Afghanistan was in front of him. So it wasn't that big an opposition, but it's not his mistake what opposition you keep in front of him. So Gurnoor Brar looks like a very, very good prospect," he observed.
Chopra elaborated on how the Gujarat Titans' seamer creates significant bounce, with the ball swinging and seaming after it pitches. He noted that while Brar is at the forefront of India's most promising young pacers, talents like Prince Yadav and Mohsin Khan are also making their mark and are not far behind.
Former cricketer Aakash Chopra has heaped praise on Gurnoor Brar, calling him one of the most exciting young fast bowlers in India after his stunning 10-wicket match-winning performance against Sri Lanka A in Galle. Brar also made a mark on his ODI debut against Afghanistan. He’s currently leading the pack of young pacers, with Prince Yadav and Mohsin Khan right on his heels.
