The 36-year-old speedster from Bangladesh has announced his departure from international cricket as he took to social media to pen a heart-touching post to bid adieu to his international cricket. While the pacer confirmed his unavailability for Bangladesh from international cricket, Rubel stated that he will be part of domestic cricket for a bit longer.

Emotional Farewell After Long International Career

Rubel Hossain confirmed his retirement from the international arena by taking to Facebook, where he also penned his thoughts and emotions regarding playing for the Bangladesh national team.

Rubel posted:

“I have played 27 Tests, 104 ODIs and 28 T20 Internationals for Bangladesh. The national team is my feeling, but there comes a time when I have to say goodbye."

Rubel played 27 Tests, 104 ODIs and 28 T20 Internationals for the national team before announcing his retirement from international cricket on Sunday. Although he'll no longer be playing for the Bangladesh national cricket team at the international level, the 36-year-old revealed his plans of continuing to play in domestic cricket for a bit longer.

Career Statistics and an Unforgettable World Cup Stint

Rubel Hossain made his international debut in the year 2009 and became a pivotal part of the Bangladesh bowling attack throughout the years. Throughout his career, he appeared in 27 Test matches, in which he took 36 wickets. Whereas in the ODI and T20 format, he played 104 ODIs and 28 T20Is respectively. He took 129 wickets in the limited overs and 28 wickets in the shortest format of the game.

Among the most impressive performances of his career would be the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, when he guided Bangladesh to a win against England with 4 wickets. Which was Bangladesh’s first-ever quarter-final appearance in a World Cup.

During the aforementioned fixture, Bangladesh was defending a total of 275 runs. Rubel was responsible for turning the tables on the batting line-up as he dismissed Stuart Broad and James Anderson back-to-back.
