Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are undoubtedly two of the most impactful players of our time, both on the pitch and beyond. With both legends now retired from Test and T20I formats, fans can only catch them in action during India's One Day International (ODI) games or in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
That said, there's always a chance we might see Kohli and Rohit make an appearance in domestic cricket. Last season, they both played a few matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, representing Delhi and Mumbai, respectively, and made quite the impression by scoring centuries. As the 2026-27 Duleep Trophy approaches, one can't help but wonder if these two cricketing giants will join other well-known Indian stars in the competition.
The short answer to whether Kohli and Rohit will participate in the 2026 Duleep Trophy is a resounding NO. Fans shouldn't expect to see these seasoned Indian batters in the tournament starting on August 23.
Given that the Duleep Trophy is a First-Class competition, there's little motivation for Kohli and Rohit to take part, especially since they both stepped away from Test cricket over a year ago.
Kohli's last First-Class appearance was back in late January 2025, when he played for Delhi against Railways in a Ranji Trophy match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Unfortunately, he only managed to score six runs in the first innings before being dismissed by Himanshu Sangwan.
Rohit, meanwhile, played his final First-Class game in the same tournament, representing Mumbai against Jammu & Kashmir at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC. He scored three runs in the first innings and 28 in the second before officially retiring from red-ball cricket.
