Arjun Tendulkar had a fantastic evening on his debut for Lucknow Super Giants in their IPL 2026 match against Punjab Kings on Saturday being played at the Ekana Stadium.
The young left-arm pacer had a full quota of 4 overs under his belt by the end of it all picking up the crucial wicket of Prabhsimran Singh in the middle overs with a yorker at a sharp pace.
However, the performance was made even more special, as his father Sachin Tendulkar was seen being emotional on social media for what appeared to be one of the first few times for his son, praising Arjun's hard work and patience.
Sachin took to X:
"Well done, Arjun. Proud of the way you've carried yourself through this season, always believing in your ability, staying patient, working hard quietly, and remaining positive despite having to wait for your opportunity till the very last match. Cricket tests patience as much as skill, and you handled both beautifully today. Keep your feet on the ground, and continue being in love with the game like you always have. Love you always."

The post went viral on social media, and it was perhaps the first time Sachin was heard talking openly about his son's cricket journey, back in 2023 after his son made his IPL debut with the Mumbai Indians.
Arjun impressive with ball on his LSG debut
The 25-year-old came on to bowl straight after the powerplay from skipper Rishabh Pant. The youngster began positively, trouble Prabhsimran Singh with some nicely directed short balls. One particular short delivery that bounced sharply on him forced him to go on the leg side and take an edge which he failed to collect behind the stumps. The missed chance later hurt Lucknow.
Despite the missed chance Arjun completed a neat first over that cost only four runs. The second over was too costly though as both Prabhsimran and Shreyas Iyer were going after the bowler with one boundary and a maximum conceded. However the left-armer showed some good character under pressure and when he noticed the batters coming out aggressively he adjusted his angles in smart way to comeback later on.
Maiden IPL Wicket and good finish for Arjun
The young bowler got his breakthrough wicket in the 15th over of the game with a blistering yorker to trap Prabhsimran Singh lbw for 69 runs. This was his first wicket in IPL and it became the highlight of the game for Lucknow fans. He also delivered brilliantly at the death, giving away only 5 runs in his final over lthough the chase was completed by Punjab.
In the end, he finished with figures of 4-0-36-1 and was the most economical bowler for LSG. That dropped catch from Pant at the start of the innings actually cost him a hundred, as he scored 49 runs after that life given. Despite being on the losing side in the end Arjun's calm bowling at the crease under pressure, and the work he has put in has been recognized by all the fans and cricket experts around.
