Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 65 runs in the 6th match of the IPL 2026 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
After posting a massive score upfront SRH pacers produced a clinical bowling performance to restrict KKR at 161 in only 16 overs.
The chase never really took off for the KKR even though they had a couple of good performances in the middle. The SRH kept the pressure up and picked up crucial wickets.
SRH Innings Setup the Game
The top order of SRH showed brilliant hitting power as Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head got them off to a blistering start, as SRH reached 84 in the powerplay. Heinrich Klaasen was impressive with a score of 52, while Nitish Kumar Reddy chipped in with a crucial 39 runs. The innings ended with a mammoth score of 226/8 for the SRH.
Blessing Muzarabani was the standout performer with the ball for the KKR, he finished with 4 wickets. Vaibhav Arora was also economical and picked up 2 wickets, Kartik Tyagi and Anukul Roy picked up one wicket each. Despite the wickets the KKR could not halt the flow of runs as the SRH batsmen went for broke.
KKR Chase Collapsed Quickly
The target for the KKR was a huge 227 and they lost early wickets in their chase as Finn Allen got them off to a flyer with a knock of 28 runs in just 7 deliveries. However, his dismissal at 30-1 dented their chances and the captain Ajinkya Rahane could only manage a paltry 8 runs. Angkrish Raghuvanshi top scored for the KKR with a well made 52 runs in just 29 deliveries and Rinku Singh picked up 35 runs for the KKR.
The Knights continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Cameron Green and Anukul Roy along with all the other players had disappointing outings and they were bundled out for 161 runs in 16 overs, falling short of the target by a huge margin.
Jaydev Unadkat was the wrecker-in-chief for the SRH, picking up 3 wickets in the game. Eshan Malinga and Nitish Kumar Reddy picked up 2 wickets apiece and Harsh Dubey also picked up a wicket as the KKR's chase never really looked like it would end with anything but a defeat.
