Litton Das Points to Rain After Bangladesh's Home Series Loss

Through a rain-delayed match Bangladesh lost to New Zealand their third T20I match by six wickets. The series ended 1-1, and captain Litton Das admitted he was unhappy with the final outcome.

The Bangladesh team entered their deciding match with confidence after they had won the first T20I and the second game had been canceled. The weather conditions completely shifted control of the match.

The powerplay ended with Bangladesh scoring 43 runs until rain caused the match to stop. After a lengthy delay, officials decided to shorten the match to 15 overs for each team. The host team lost their ability to control the game after play started again, resulting in their total score of 102 runs.

The rain clearly disturbed their flow at a key moment. The team failed to reach the required score because they could only achieve 100 runs on a batting-friendly pitch. New Zealand then chased the target with ease, winning with 20 balls left and drawing the series.

Bangladesh skipper Litton Das later shared his disappointment in the post-match presentation. The rain had a significant effect on the game according to him.

Litton commented: “When we were at the toss, I said that the weather is a big factor. I think the toss was important. Although when we batted first, 150 is obviously difficult to get, but when me and Hridoy got a partnership, the rain came, and after that it was not our day. It just broke the momentum”

Bangladesh showed strong performance while they defended their total. Shoriful Islam struck three times to remove the top order and gave away only 19 runs in his three overs.

He added: "“When you are playing on such a good wicket...100 is not enough. I think anything around 160 would have been a good total. Although Shoriful bowled really well, that's why we tried in the middle to give them a little bit of pressure. But overall, both batting and bowling were not up to the mark. Yeah, definitely. If Shoriful continues like this, Bangladesh will be more successful in the future."

Bangladesh started the match strong yet their performance declined because their bowling unit failed to support Islam's performance.

New Zealand batsman Bevon Jacobs achieved a remarkable performance by scoring 62 runs from 31 deliveries. His innings included five fours and three sixes as he guided the Kiwis to victory.

Pakistan will serve as Bangladesh's next international opponent. They will play a two-match Test series, with the first Test starting on May 8 at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.

The second Test begins on May 16 at Sylhet International Stadium. Bangladesh will host Australia for a white-ball series featuring three ODIs and three T20Is. Later, Bangladesh will tour Australia for a two-match Test series.
