In a recent match at the National Bank Stadium, RawalPindiz pacer Mohammad Amir and Islamabad United all-rounder Faheem Ashraf found themselves in a bit of hot water, each receiving a fine of 10 percent of their match fee for a Level 1 offence under the Pakistan Super League Code of Conduct during Match 34 on Thursday.

Amir was penalized for breaching Article 2.5, which deals with using language, actions, or gestures that could be seen as disrespectful or might provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter after being dismissed.

On the other hand, Faheem was charged under Article 2.21, which pertains to actions that bring the game into disrepute. Both players acknowledged the charges brought forth by on-field umpires Alex Wharf and Faisal Khan Aafreedi and accepted the penalties handed down by match referee Sir Richard Richardson.

The incident unfolded on the third delivery of the 17th over when Amir bowled a sharp slower bouncer. Faheem tried to execute an upper cut but ended up edging the ball to wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan. After the dismissal, Amir celebrated animatedly, gesturing towards Faheem and seemingly signaling him to head back to the pavilion.

Faheem, not one to back down, reacted with anger, walking towards Amir and raising his bat in response. The tension escalated for a moment until Asif Afridi and Saad Masood stepped in to separate the two and calm things down.

As for RawalPindiz, they’re currently sitting at the bottom of the table with just one win and eight losses out of nine matches, earning only two points and holding a net run rate of -1.330. They’re set to face the Hyderabad Kingsmen in their final league-stage match on April 26.
