It has been confirmed that the San Francisco Unicorns will participate in the Global Super League 2026. It is a 10-day tournament starting on July 23 and ending on August 1 in Guyana.

GSL released an official statement confirming the addition of the San Francisco Unicorns to their league. GSL chairman Clive Lloyd, through the statement, expressed his delight to have the side in his league. He further added that the league is trying to expand in United States. It says,

"We are delighted to have the San Francisco Unicorns join the Guyana Global Super League. Their inclusion reflects the growing global footprint of the game and the strength of franchise cricket in the United States. We look forward to seeing them compete and contribute to what promises to be an outstanding tournament."

Unicorns normally play for the Major Cricket League. With this collaboration, they became the first team from MCL to join hands with GSL. Unicorns SEO David White expressed his excitement and wrote,

"We're thrilled to be part of the Guyana Global Super League, and to become the first Major League Cricket side to play on the global stage. This tournament brings together some of the best franchise teams in the world, and it's a fantastic opportunity for our players and fans to be part of a truly international competition. Guyana has a rich cricketing heritage and a passionate fan base, and we're excited to experience that environment, while testing ourselves against top-class opposition."

The San Francisco Unicorns have shown steady growth in Major League Cricket over three seasons. After finishing 5th in 2023, they surged to runners-up in 2024, losing the final to Washington Freedom. In 2025, they delivered an even stronger league phase with 7 wins, finishing third before being eliminated by MI New York.

The team set multiple records in 2025, including the highest total (269/5) and most sixes in an innings. Finn Allen starred with a record 151 runs off 51 balls. They also maintain a slight edge over Seattle Orcas in head-to-head clashes.

Looking ahead to 2026, the signing of Ravichandran Ashwin adds major experience, raising expectations for a title push.
