In a dramatic encounter between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings during the IPL 2026, another bizarre on-field incident involving a particular umpire stole the limelight.
During the RCB's batting in Sunday's game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, mentor Dinesh Karthik walked onto the field with drinks for skipper Rajat Patidar and batter Devdutt Padikkal. Unexpectedly, the ongoing sequence saw a dramatic turn.
Suddenly one of the on-field umpires walked up, took the bottle from Karthik, and even took a sip from it. The moment did not go unnoticed and it did not sit well with the RCB camp.
Rajat Patidar seemed clearly displeased and gestured the umpire to return the bottle. Even Dinesh Karthik seemed to be unhappy as the umpire ended up in an intense argument with him, even coach Andy Flower joined the conversation and it was a heated on-field moment.
The clip of this moment went viral all over the social media and it received diverse reactions from fans over this rare incident.

Dominant RCB seal big win against CSK
Amidst this drama, RCB dominated and went on to achieve a dominant win. Batting first, the home side slammed a mammoth total of 250/3 in 20 overs.
Tim David remained unbeaten on 70 while Devdutt Padikkal chipped in with 50 runs. The skipper Rajat Patidar was also in good touch staying not out on 48 and first shared a 58-run stand with Padikkal and then a match-winning 99-run partnership with David.
The chasing side Chennai Super Kings failed to chase the huge total of 251 runs as key players MS Dhoni and Dewald Brevis were not available for the game. The highest scorer for CSK was Sarfaraz Khan with 50 off 25 balls but the other batters failed to stand by his side. The CSK unit was bowled out for 207 runs in 19.4 overs and it turned out to be a huge win for the RCB.
Rajat Patidar later heaped praise on Tim David and stated, "He is a specialist, and he is one of the best finishers, I would say. And I think I enjoyed it a lot. And he has done it last year also. I think he is more sense to sense, if you say, the best finisher and the most consistent throughout the game and one of the best finishers I have ever seen."
He also expressed his belief in Krunal Pandya: "I think whenever I came under pressure, I always looked to KP. Where is KP? I have that much belief in him."
The next game for RCB is against Rajasthan Royals at Guwahati on April 10.
