Rohit Sharma won the hearts of the fans off the field with his sweet gesture after he apologised to a young fan post Mumbai Indians' IPL 2026 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Monday.
The video has since gone viral over social media, winning hearts of fans all across the nation.
Post the clash, a bunch of the MI fans gathered outside the team hotel at Kolkata in order to see their favourite player. Among the fans gathered there, there was one young girl, who waited for the former MI captain for the entire duration. However, Sharma left the place without even noticing her and was later seen in a video in tears while her disappointment and regret could be seen on her face.
Rohit Sharma's Apologise Video Goes Viral
Later, the former MI skipper made it a point to apologise to the fan and shared a video in order to do the same. Rohit mentioned that when people gather outside the hotels at times it is very difficult for the individuals not to be able to spot the spectators present over there due to the heavy crowd and noises surrounding the area.
Rohit further made a special promise to the young fan, mentioning that he would personally meet her when he is next in Kolkata. Fans from all across the nation loved the way Rohit took the effort and replied to an ordinary supporter instead of disregarding the situation.
The post read, "Rohit Sharma apologized to the fangirl who started crying at Eden Gardens after not being able to meet him. Rohit made a special video for her and said sorry, and he also promised that he would meet her the next time he comes to Kolkata."

Rohit Struggles as MI Lose to KKR
Although Rohit impressed spectators by his off-the-field gesture, his performance with the bat against KKR failed to perform up to the mark. Being dismissed by Saurabh Dubey after scoring just 15 runs off 13 balls as the opener tried to smash a big shot. Kolkata achieved the victory as they chased 147 runs in 18.5 overs, after a match-winning partnership of 64 between Manish Pandey and Rovman Powell.
Difficult Season for Mumbai Indians
Rohit has had a decent IPL 2026, scoring 283 runs off 8 innings with a strike-rate of 160 and two half-centuries to his name. The batter missed some matches as he had a hamstring issue, and he was mostly used as impact player.
Mumbai Indians' campaign in IPL 2026 has been pathetic so far, they have lost 9 out of 13 matches and are in the ninth spot with 8 points on the points table. Several injuries and batting failures have further worsened Mumbai's campaign.
