Madhav Tiwari of Delhi Capitals impressed everyone during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against Punjab Kings at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on May 11.
Delhi Capitals were battling to stay alive in the IPL 2026 playoffs and needed a win against Punjab Kings to get the job done. After the DC captain Axar Patel won the toss, the opposition was asked to bat first. Axar stated in the toss ceremony that five changes were made in the DC line-up and Madhav Tiwari was one of the debutantes to make it into the playing XI.
After warming the bench for most of the season, the young pacer made his mark in his second career IPL match. He looked impressive with his discipline with the ball, maintaining his line and length and gave the PBKS batsmen a hard time in the first innings. He ended up picking up two vital wickets for the Delhi Capitals side, dismissing Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly, the left-handed Australian batsman.
All about Madhav Tiwari
22-year-old Madhav Tiwari is a right-arm medium pace bowler from Madhya Pradesh. Apart from his bowling ability, he can also play aggressive shots in the lower order for the team. Tiwari was bought by Delhi Capitals for 40 Lakhs in the auction prior to IPL 2025 and made his debut in the league during IPL 2025 against Mumbai Indians.
In that particular match he did not get much opportunity and managed to score 3 runs with the bat but failed to pick up a wicket with the ball. One year later he finally gets a breakthrough in the IPL 2026 against Punjab Kings and managed to pick up his first IPL wicket which came in the form of Priyansh Arya.

Although Madhav Tiwari has not made his debut for Madhya Pradesh in the first-class or list-A format of cricket, he has represented his state team in the under-19 and under-23 tournaments and also performed impressively in CK Nayudu Trophy 2024-25, where he was successful in scoring two half centuries and provided a glimpse of his batting ability.
Madhav Tiwari is also an important part of the Bhopal Leopards in Madhya Pradesh T20 league. This eye-catching performance for the Capitals in the ongoing season is a definite milestone in his career and DC fans would expect the pacer to continue this performance with his teammates.
