The conversation about Yashasvi Jaiswal's future at Rajasthan Royals has become a major topic after former India batter Ambati Rayudu suggested the opener could even look to move away from the franchise.
The development has come in a season that has been completely dominated by young prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the biggest name of IPL 2026. While Jaiswal has continued to be a consistent scorer at the top of the order, most of the limelight has been reserved for the 15-year-old batting sensation.
Jaiswal went into the season as one of Rajasthan Royals' biggest names. Following multiple successful seasons in the IPL, along with his exploits for the Indian national team, he was anticipated to be the franchise's poster boy especially after Sanju Samson's departure to Chennai Super Kings.
However, the incredible heroics of Sooryavanshi have completely reshaped the narrative around the Royals this season.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is Making Headlines in the IPL
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has undoubtedly become one of the biggest stories in world cricket during IPL 2026. He has scored runs consistently throughout the competition and has broken many records along the way.
Most recently, he smashed 97 runs from only 29 deliveries in the Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad to guide Rajasthan Royals into Qualifier 2. He also broke Chris Gayle's record for the most sixes in a single IPL season and has become the youngest batter to register over 600 runs in a season of the Indian Premier League.
While Jaiswal has also provided vital contributions for RR with his bat, the explosive batting from Sooryavanshi has received almost all the attention from cricket fanatics and experts.
Ambati Rayudu Gives Strong Advice to Jaiswal
Ambati Rayudu, the former India batter, suggests that Jaiswal is now at the point of needing a fresh environment, a situation in which he can re-establish himself as a franchise's main player.
During an interview with ESPNcricinfo, Rayudu indicated that if Jaiswal remains with Rajasthan Royals alongside Sooryavanshi, he risks being constantly outshone by the latter.
Ambati Rayudu told ESPNcricinfo:
"He needs to change his game because he cannot just bat with the guy and be overshadowed every single time. He is a star in his own right. If he goes to another team, he will win games on his own. He needs space and a platform because this guy will continue to overshadow people."
Jaiswal has already generated quite a bit of transfer talk from fans with these comments, and Mumbai Indians have been touted as potential destination by some supporters leading up to next year's Indian Premier League.
However, for now Jaiswal's mind is on the Royals' pursuit of a playoff title and preparing for Qualifier 2 against the Gujarat Titans.
