Organised by Chrar-e-Sharif Sultans, the tournament aims to promote sports, fitness and healthy recreational activities among youth, while providing young cricketers a competitive platform and encouraging a drug-free society.

Dr Andrabi praised the transformation of the sports sector in J&K and credited the Khelo India programme under Prime Minister Narendra Modi for strengthening sports infrastructure and opportunities. She said young J&K cricketers were increasingly making their mark at national level, including in the Indian Premier League.

Dr Andrabi stressed the importance of grassroots sporting events in identifying and nurturing talent and keeping youth away from drug abuse. She expressed hope that the tournament would inspire more youngsters to pursue cricket and other sports.

Mohamad Rafeeq Abdullah, Chief Organiser of the League, Academic Dr Aijaz Ashraf, ASP Dr Rameez Raja, BJP Co-Convener Khalid Rathore and Umer Jan were present.

Later, Dr Andrabi paid obeisance at Ziyarat-e-Sheikh-ul-Aalam (RA) and reviewed ongoing construction works. Waqf Board Administrator Mohammad Amin Dar, Executive Engineer Er Qazi Mushtaq, In-Charge Officer Rehmat Ullah Bhat, Assistant Engineer Ghulam-e-Murtaza and Javed Wani accompanied her. She directed officials to complete the works within the stipulated timeframe.
