SRINAGAR, Sept 12: Dr. Shaista Ganai has declined appointment to the post of Deputy Medical Superintendent at Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, with the J&K Government formally accepting her unwillingness and asking the J&K Public Service Commission (JKPSC) to recommend the next eligible candidate for the vacant post.
According to Government Order No. 685-JK(HME) of 2026, issued by the Health and Medical Education Department, Dr. Ganai, daughter of Ghulam Ahmed Ganai and resident of Ishber Nishat, had been recommended by the JKPSC as the next candidate in order of merit under the relevant category for appointment as Deputy Medical Superintendent, GMC Srinagar.
The recommendation followed the cancellation of the appointment of Dr. Mohd. Sarwar Mir, who had earlier been selected for the post.
The Government had initially sanctioned his temporary appointment as Deputy Medical Superintendent through Government Order No. 97-JK(HME) of 2026 dated February 12, 2026.
