The meeting was chaired by All India Congress General Secretary (Org) K C Venugopal and attended by AICC General Secretary Incharge J&K, Dr Syed Naseer Hussain (MP Rajya Sabha); JKPCC President, Tariq Hameed Karra; Congress Legislative Party Leader, Ghulam Ahmad Mir; AICC Secretaries, Pargat Singh and Divya Madernna; JKPCC Working Presidents, Raman Bhalla and Tara Chand.

In the significant meeting, held at Indira Bhawan, Congress Headquarters in New Delhi, this evening, threadbare discussion was held for strengthening the organization structure in Jammu and Kashmir with constitution of committees at all level.

In this regard, sources said the meet decided that District Congress Committees, Block Committees, Mandal Committees, Gram Panchayat and booth level committees will be formed soon. Constitution of the committees will be followed by workers conventions at both Jammu and Srinagar, sources added.

According to Tariq Hamid Karra, the high level meeting was in connection with the party programme Sangthan Srijan Abhiyan, a nationwide internal restructuring campaign launched by the party to rebuild , reform and strengthen the organization from grassroot level.

"The party seeks to strengthen its organisational network and revitalise its cadre in Jammu and Kashmir and a detailed discussion was held in this regard," he told the reporters after coming out of the meeting at New Delhi.

The meeting also discussed and reviewed political situation in the Union Territory and K C Venugopal reportedly emphasised greater coordination between the party's leadership and grassroots workers.

Several local issues, recent floods in Jammu Kashmir and the required relief works also came up in discussion during the meeting, which lasted more than an hour.
