SRINAGAR, July 6: Police today destroyed a large quantity of seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in separate disposal proceedings Anantnag and Sopore.
A police spokesperson said that the destruction was carried out after obtaining legal sanctions and in compliance with the directions of the competent courts at the Government-approved disposal facilities.
In Anantnag, police destroyed over 308 kilograms of seized contraband linked to multiple NDPS cases, including poppy straw, charas, bung boosa, ganja, cannabis powder and leaves, heroin, brown sugar and 823 bottles of codeine phosphate, the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said Sopore Police also destroyed a substantial quantity of seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances connected with multiple NDPS cases registered in the police district. "The disposal was carried out through incineration under the supervision of the District Drug Disposal Committees and designated officers, ensuring transparency and compliance with the NDPS Act, NDPS Rules and prescribed procedures," the spokesperson said.
