New Delhi, April 8: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken decisive action against corruption by arresting a manager and an investigator from National Insurance Company Limited for bribery.
This operation was initiated based on a complaint filed on April 7.
According to the CBI, the accused investigator, linked to the Delhi regional office of National Insurance Company, demanded a bribe of ₹3 lakh from the complainant in exchange for reinstating cashless medical facilities at a private hospital in Manesar, Haryana. During the investigation, it was revealed that the investigator had already accepted ₹1 lakh as a bribe. Subsequently, during negotiations, the bribe amount was reduced from ₹3 lakh to ₹2.60 lakh. The investigator instructed the complainant to pay the remaining ₹1.60 lakh on April 7, 2026.
Acting on this information, the CBI set up a trap and caught the investigator red-handed while accepting the ₹1.60 lakh bribe. Further investigation revealed the involvement of a manager from National Insurance Company, leading to the arrest of both individuals. The case is being pursued under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities suggest that more revelations may emerge from this case.
The CBI stated that this operation reflects its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability within the government system. The agency has urged citizens to report any instances of bribery by government officials immediately. Complaints can be lodged at the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch office located at CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi, or by contacting the helpline number 011-24367887 and mobile number 9650394847.
