Amaravati, March 29: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) National President N. Chandrababu Naidu extended his greetings to the people of the state on the party's 44th foundation day.

He emphasized that the TDP is a true reflection of the aspirations of the Telugu people and has consistently worked for the public’s interests.

On this special occasion, he conveyed his best wishes to all members of the ‘TDP family.’ Naidu took to the social media platform ‘X’ to highlight that the TDP was founded by the great leader N.T. Rama Rao (NTR) and has been advancing the hopes of Telugu people for generations.

CM Naidu stated that the party continues to uphold NTR’s principles, which emphasized providing food, clothing, and shelter to the poor. He remarked, “TDP is a party of its workers, and the foundation day feels like a family festival for us.”

Additionally, TDP General Secretary and Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for Human Resource Development and IT, Nara Lokesh, also shared a message on this occasion. He noted that the TDP was born out of the need for self-respect and upliftment of the Telugu people.

Nara Lokesh mentioned that inspired by the legendary actor and global icon N.T. Rama Rao, the party has always supported the poor and marginalized. He asserted that it was only after the TDP’s emergence that the downtrodden and backward classes gained political and social recognition.

He claimed that the TDP was the party that initiated welfare schemes in the country. The party’s goal is to elevate Telugu people to a position of prominence globally, and it is continuously striving in that direction.

It is noteworthy that N.T. Rama Rao established the TDP on March 29, 1982, under the slogan of ‘Telugu Self-Respect.’ The party made history by coming to power within just nine months of its formation.

NTR passed away in January 1996, shortly after Chandrababu Naidu took over as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Later, under Naidu’s leadership in 1999, the TDP returned to power and governed until 2004.

Even after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the TDP formed the first government in the newly constituted state. However, in 2019, the Y.S.R. Congress Party (YSRCP), led by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, took over the reins.

In the upcoming 2024 assembly elections, the TDP is poised for a remarkable comeback under the NDA alliance, with Chandrababu Naidu once again stepping into the role of Chief Minister.
