Guna, April 12: A severe road accident occurred in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh when a car collided with a tractor. The impact caused the car to crash into several motorcycles, resulting in the deaths of a couple.
The incident took place late Saturday night on a highway section of the Kumbhraj-Mohanpur road. Initial reports from the police indicate that the car driver was attempting to overtake the tractor. It appears that the driver lost control of the tractor or veered into the wrong lane, leading to the collision with the overtaking car. This caused the car to also hit two motorcycles coming from the opposite direction.
The collision was so intense that the car was severely damaged, and the couple riding one of the motorcycles lost their lives. The husband died at the scene, while his wife was declared dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.
Authorities have identified the deceased as Kailash Singh (58) and his wife, aged 55, from Barod village. Their four-year-old grandson, Ashish, sustained injuries and has been admitted to the Kumbhraj Community Health Center.
Additionally, a young man riding another motorcycle was seriously injured and has been taken to the district hospital, where his condition is reported to be critical.
Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with debris scattered across the road. Local residents rushed to help the injured and transport them to hospitals.
The police arrived promptly and initiated an investigation. According to officials, the tractor driver lost control of his vehicle, resulting in the crash with the car, which subsequently collided with the two motorcycles.
The tractor driver has been detained, and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Motor Vehicles Act. Authorities are investigating the exact causes of the accident.
Preliminary findings suggest that speeding and possibly the negligence of the tractor driver may have contributed to the incident. The police will examine all aspects, including whether the tractor was overloaded or if the driver was fatigued. They have stated that strict action will be taken against those responsible.
Family members of the victims gathered at the hospital, expressing deep sorrow and calling for improved road safety measures. The police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and are questioning the tractor driver.
