Udaipur, March 14: In a tragic incident, two friends were brutally murdered with swords in Udaipur district, Rajasthan, while a grocery store owner who attempted to intervene was seriously injured.
The attack occurred on Friday night in the village of Sailana, located in the Jhadol area of the district.
According to police reports, Suresh (25), son of Amrit Ahari, and Bhairulal (27), son of Prabhulal Badgoza, both residents of Richhwar village, were riding their motorcycle to Sailana around 8 PM when a group of assailants on another motorcycle intercepted them.
The attackers reportedly assaulted both young men with swords and other weapons, leading to their immediate deaths.
Sumit (30), the son of Roopji and a local grocery store owner, heard the commotion and attempted to intervene. He was also attacked by the assailants and sustained severe injuries.
Villagers rushed to the scene upon hearing the noise, but the attackers had already fled before their arrival.
The injured shopkeeper was transported to Jhadol sub-district hospital by ambulance and was later referred to Udaipur for further treatment after receiving initial care.
Following the incident, tensions escalated in the village, prompting residents to protest on Saturday, demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits.
To maintain law and order, police personnel from six police stations have been deployed in the area.
SHO Velaram of Bagpur reported that teams have been formed to locate the suspects, and an investigation is underway.
Upon receiving news of the incident, Bagpur police arrived at the crime scene to conduct an examination. The bodies were subsequently sent to Jhadol mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
Police confirmed that, with the help of villagers, the deceased were identified, and their families have been informed of the tragic event.
Authorities are also investigating whether any prior enmity led to this violent attack.
Reports indicate that Suresh worked at a fast-food restaurant in Bagpur.
Villagers and the families of the deceased gathered at the crime scene to demand the immediate arrest of the attackers. They also called for compensation of ₹50 lakh each for the victims’ families and a government job for them.
