Lucknow, April 13: The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has taken a significant step to enhance women's empowerment at the grassroots level.

Schools will now be developed as centers for women’s empowerment, launching the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Abhiyan’ across the state.

This special initiative will run from April 16 to 20, featuring various activities in council schools and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas. According to an order issued by Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma, the Additional Chief Secretary of Basic and Secondary Education, this campaign aims to boost confidence, awareness, and social participation among girls, empowering them from an early age.

On April 16, ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Day’ will be celebrated. Parents of girls with over 70% attendance will be honored. Additionally, a human chain will be formed by students and female teachers at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, alongside block-level programs focused on women’s empowerment.

On April 17, activities related to yoga, sports, and discipline will be organized to promote the physical and mental development of students. Cultural programs will provide girls the opportunity to showcase their talents, thereby enhancing their self-confidence.

On April 20, competitions in essay writing, poetry, poster making, rangoli, and mehndi will be held to foster creativity among students.

These activities aim to strengthen leadership skills, expression abilities, and a sense of self-reliance among girls. All schools have been instructed to implement these programs effectively.

On April 16, parents (either mother or father) of girls with over 70% attendance will be recognized in all council schools. A human chain will also be formed at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, with block-level programs dedicated to women’s empowerment.

On April 17, self-defense, social service, and cultural activities will take place, including drill performances by NCC and Scout/Guide students at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, plays based on women’s lives, folk songs, and dances, along with various sports competitions and activities under Rani Lakshmibai self-defense training.

On April 20, debate and writing competitions will be organized, covering topics such as ‘Impact of Nari Shakti Vandan Conference on the Future’ and ‘Role of Women in a Developed India,’ along with essay, self-composed poetry, and poster competitions on the theme ‘Empowered Women, Prosperous India.’
