Bengaluru: Over 1.08 crore voters in the current electors' list in Karnataka will find themselves out of the draft electoral rolls to be published on August 24 as they remained in the Absent, Shifted, Duplicate, Dead and Others (ASDDO) list after the 49-day door-to-door enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) that ended on Monday.
As per the electors' list on June 16, 2026, there are 5.54 crore eligible electors in the State. Of them, 1,08,31,945 (19.54%) find themselves in the ASSDO list now.
In that, the biggest share is that of 'permanently shifted electors' - 65.61 lakh electors (11.84% of 5.54 crore). This is followed by 16.38 lakh (2.96%) 'dead' electors, 15.28 lakh (2.76%) 'absent' electors, 7.07 lakh (1.28%) 'already enrolled'/'duplicate' electors, followed by 3.94 lakh (0.71%) electors marked as 'others'.
Of those 1.08 crore electors in the ASDDO list, 47.14 lakh (43.52%) are from Bengaluru City alone. Of those 47.14 lakh electors, 17.26 lakh are from Bengaluru Urban, 10.58 lakh from BBMP North, 8.66 lakh from BBMP Central and 10.64 lakh from BBMP South.
Comparatively, Udupi had the least share of electors in the ASDDO list - 63,364 (5.96%).
The ASSDO list peaked on August 4 with 1.11 crore (20.04%) electors. After the list became available on August 4, people flagged discrepancies and the numbers began to marginally reduce, reaching 1,08,31,945 (19.54%) on August 17.
Absence in the draft list implies that these individuals have to apply afresh through Form 6 to be included into the voter list.
25 lakh unmapped
This apart, 25.14 lakh electors among the 4.46 crore whose forms have been digitised have been categorised as "unmapped" since they have not been able to self-map or map themselves to their relatives on the 2002 electoral rolls.
After the publication of the draft rolls, these persons will get a notice, where they will have to submit one of the 11 documents mandated by the ECI to stay on the final list.
There is no official clarity yet on whether the categorisation of 'logical discrepancy' that began in West Bengal will also continue in Karnataka. In case 'logical discrepancy' is seen in Karnataka, even electors on the draft list who mapped themselves to the 2002 list can be sent notices based on spelling discrepancies, age difference of less than 15 years between mother and children and so on.
