Artificial Intelligence will be the order of the day, Kris tells IIIT Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Demand for "making predictions" will go up and demand for people who make predictions will come down because of Artificial Intelligence, said Kris Gopalakrishnan, executive chairman- Infosys at the 17th convocation of International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIITH) on Saturday.

As many as 423 students graduated at the 17th convocation ceremony of IIITH with a record number of 136 research students, including 11 PhDs.

As many as 137 companies registered for conducting placements and made job offers to the graduating students.

The institute had 100 per cent placements last year. ECE students secured a 34 per cent increase in pay packages with average salary of `18 lakh.

Research-based (BTech and MS Research) Dual Degree ECE students secured 40 per cent higher packages than the BTech programme and many students secured international offers with highest package being at `1.5 crore.

Parkhiya Parv Kesha-vlal, BTech Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was awarded the IIIT gold medal in recognition of his outstanding academic performance. The BTech Best all-rounder award was presented to Anjali Anil Shenoy BTech in CSE. Eleven students received programme gold medals.

Mr Gopalakrishnan who was the chief guest at the convocation ceremony delivered the convocation address. Professor Raj Reddy, chairman of governing council of IIIT-Hyderabad presided over the ceremony.
