A fast track special court in Sonipat sentenced an archery coach, Kuldeep Vedwan to five years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) in connection with a case related sexual harassment of a national-level archer, who is a minor.

The court held Vedwan guilty under provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and imposed a fine of Rs 15,000. After the court's verdict, the police took him into custody.

The police in Sonipat district was registered in August 2023. Vedwan of Uttar Pradesh allegedly attempted to sexually harass the junior player during a youth archery championship trial held in Sonipat in April 2023, according to prosecution.
