VIJAYAWADA : An Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court has remanded Shanthi, the Assistant Commissioner of the Endowments Department, to police custody following her arrest in a disproportionate assets case.
The court has granted permission for investigative authorities to interrogate her on April 15 and 16. She is currently lodged as a remand prisoner at the Vijayawada District Jail.
Visitation Request Pending
Shanthi has filed a separate petition requesting mulakat (visitation rights) to see her two-and-a-half-year-old son. The court has concluded its hearing on the matter and reserved its final judgment for April 16.
Massive Wealth Uncovered
The arrest follows extensive, simultaneous raids conducted by ACB officials on April 7 across four locations, including Tadepalli and Undavalli. During the searches, authorities unearthed a massive cache of unaccounted wealth tied to the official.
Key assets identified during the raids include:
A luxury flat in Endada, Visakhapatnam.
A G+2 residential building in Kunchanapalli, Tadepalli.
770 grams of gold jewelry and 3 kg of silver.
₹1.15 lakh in hard cash and an additional ₹3 lakh deposited across various bank accounts.
One car and a two-wheeler.
The investigation is expected to intensify during her two-day custody period as officials probe further into the accumulation of these illegal assets.
