Hyderabad:Novotel Hyderabad Airport has successfully renewed its Green Key Certification for the third consecutive year, reaffirming its long-term commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible hospitality.

Notably, the hotel was also the first in South India and the third in India to receive the Green Key certification, a distinction that continues to underscore its leadership in sustainable hospitality.

Unlike one-time recognition, Green Key renewal requires hotels to demonstrate year-on-year progress, compliance, and measurable impact across energy efficiency, water management, waste reduction, and community engagement. Novotel Hyderabad Airport's sustained certification highlights a structured approach where environmental practices are integrated into infrastructure, guest services, and operational planning.

Over the years, the hotel has strengthened its sustainability framework through a range of focused interventions. The property uses 100% non-CFC coolants for air conditioning, contributing to ozone layer preservation, and has installed over 6,000 LED bulbs to significantly reduce its carbon footprint. Energy efficiency is further supported through solar water heaters, with 200 panels installed to meet the hot water requirements of the entire building, alongside a broader emphasis on sourcing energy from renewable systems.

Water conservation remains a key priority. With 1,500 aerators installed across water outlets, the hotel saves up to 10,000 litres of water per day. Rainwater harvesting systems help recharge groundwater, while treated water from the on-site STP is reused for gardening and landscaping, accounting for approximately 140 KL per day.

The hotel also adopts circular and low-waste practices. Its water bottling plant using glass bottles eliminates the disposal of nearly 30,000 plastic bottles each month. Organic waste is repurposed into manure for a 2,500 sq. ft. herb garden, which is maintained using recycled water and supports the hotel's culinary offerings.

Further strengthening its sustainability efforts, the hotel promotes greener mobility through EV charging infrastructure and electric vehicles for guest transportation, enabling emission-free travel within and around the property. Guests are also encouraged to explore the surroundings through eco-friendly cycling options, reinforcing a more conscious and immersive stay experience.

Commenting on the achievement, Sukhbir Singh, General Manager, Novotel Hyderabad Airport, said, "Securing the Green Key renewal for the third year is a strong validation of our team's consistent work behind the scenes. At Novotel Hyderabad Airport, sustainability is part of how we design systems, manage resources, and engage with guests. Each year, we aim to refine our practices and create a hospitality environment that is efficient, responsible, and built for the long term."

As sustainability becomes a defining factor in global travel and hospitality standards, Novotel Hyderabad Airport aims to continue aligning its operations with evolving environmental expectations, demonstrating that long-term environmental responsibility and guest comfort can progress together.
