Nellore: Endowments minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy on Monday said the state government was continuing doorstep delivery of social security pensions to beneficiaries under the NTR Bharosa scheme on the first day of every month.
The minister distributed pensions to beneficiaries at DC Palli village in Marripadu mandal and interacted with elderly residents and other recipients during the programme.
Addressing beneficiaries, Ramanarayana Reddy said pensions amounting to Rs 2,720.67 crore were being distributed to 62.47 lakh beneficiaries across Andhra Pradesh on June 1.
He said SPSR Nellore district accounted for more than Rs 128.30 crore in pension payments benefiting 2.90 lakh recipients.
According to the Minister, 36,354 beneficiaries in the Atmakur Assembly constituency are receiving pensions worth Rs 16.22 crore, while 376 beneficiaries in DC Palli mandal are covered under the scheme with pension payments totalling Rs 16.29 lakh.
Ramanarayana Reddy said the doorstep distribution mechanism was intended to ensure timely delivery of benefits to senior citizens, widows and other eligible beneficiaries. He noted that public representatives and government officials were participating in the monthly distribution programme.
Officials from the revenue department, village secretariats and the district rural development agency took part in the pension distribution programme.
