HYDERABAD: Telangana's PM Shri schools are to receive additional central funding for 2026-27, after the ministry of education approved a set of new proposals and commended the state's work across classrooms, laboratories and co-curricular programmes.
Officials from the state attended the Project Approval Board meeting in New Delhi on April 17, where the ministry noted that 1,000 pre-primary schools were started in 2025-26 and that ATAL Tinkering Labs are now present across all PM Shri schools, with a proposal to appoint instructors.
The state presented its initiatives on virtual reality in 164 schools, music education in 270 schools, and activities such as school bands, councils and Scouts and Guides. Vocational education across 682 schools covered 16 trades, with internships for 5,820 students and 464 placements.
Proposals cleared for 2026-27 include spoken English, bilingual dictionaries, laboratory equipment, external assessments using IT tools, and ₹10 crore support for coaching in 23 KGBVs.
