Authorities have stepped up their efforts to trace him.

Choppavarapu Ramesh, who has been working as a software engineer in Doha, Qatar, for the past 15 years, had returned to his native Kanuru earlier this month. He returned to Doha on August 14 and subsequently travelled to Nepal on a pilgrimage and holiday.

According to his family, Ramesh had messaged his relatives informing them that he is leaving for Nepal. There has been no communication from him since then. The family's efforts to contact him over phone have not yielded any result, triggering fears about his safety.

Ramesh's name has been included in the list of missing persons maintained at the Machilipatnam Collectorate after information surfaced that he could have been caught in the floods in Nepal. His wife, Suneetha, has made an emotional appeal to the authorities to trace her husband immediately and bring him back safely.

Krishna district collector D.K. Balaji said on Friday that as per information available, Ramesh had gone on the Manasarovar-Kailash pilgrimage. He is presumed to be stranded in Nepal following the floods.

Speaking to media, the collector said the district administration has contacted Ramesh's family and collected his details. Efforts are being made to trace him through the Indian Embassy as well as the Nepalese authorities.

Balaji said every possible measure is being taken to locate Ramesh at the earliest.
