WARANGAL: SR University has received accreditation from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for its School of Agriculture and B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture programme, marking a first for a private university in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The accreditation was granted by the National Agricultural Education Accreditation Board (NAEAB) and will remain valid for five years from March 16, 2026.
Officials said ICAR accreditation is regarded as the benchmark for agricultural education in the country, certifying compliance with standards related to faculty strength, infrastructure and academic governance. It also enables graduates to access central government jobs, ICAR fellowships and postgraduate admissions in premier institutions.
University authorities said the recognition places SR University among accredited agricultural institutions at the national level. Chancellor A. Varada Reddy said the achievement reflects the institution's focus on research and skill-based education. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Deepak Garg said the curriculum has been designed in line with ICAR guidelines in collaboration with industry partners.
The School of Agriculture is equipped with 13 laboratories, farmland facilities and hydroponic systems, and maintains multiple industry collaborations.
