The victims were part of a family that had travelled by road from Qatar to Saudi Arabia for the pilgrimage. The accident occurred on the Jubail Highway near Dammam.

The two died on the spot, while other family members sustained injuries in the crash. They were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The condition of the injured was not immediately known.
