Kalaburagi: Kalaburagi, dhns: BJP and JD(S) allies will contest all the upcoming elections together in the state, said former chief minister B S Yediyurappa.

Addressing mediapersons here on Monday, the BJP veteran said that NDA candidates will be fielded in the polls. Accusing the state government of failing to undertake drought relief measures, he said that compensation has not been released, though immediate relief of Rs 2,500 has been promised to the farmers. Referring to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, he said it is not right to exert pressure on the government employees during the election process.

"D K Shivakumar claimed that he will continue to remain Chief Minister even after the 2028 elections, as he is trying to come to power again by using money power. But it is finally the people who will deliver their verdict, though the ruling Congress party uses financial clout, muscle power and office," he said.

Responding to a question about the next chief minister if the BJP-JD(S) alliance comes to power in the state, he said facing the election is the first priority for both parties. BJP state president B Y Vijayendra has already clarified the stance regarding the alliance's leadership, he added.

He said the state government has failed to respond to people's problems, and public dissatisfaction with the administration is growing. Around 45,000 high school teachers' posts remained vacant across the state. There is also a shortage of about 6,000 lecturers in various degree colleges, and delays in salary payments to teaching staff have caused severe problems for them, he remarked. He pointed out that the government has failed to implement the Old Pension Scheme despite promises made in this regard.

The BJP leader said that he would appeal to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to confer the Bharat Ratna upon Indian-origin pilot Smith Machar, who thwarted an attempt to crash the Flydubai flight.

Former MP Dr Umesh Jadhav, MLAs Shailendra Beldale, Basavaraj Mattimadu, and Dr Avinash Jadhav, MLC Shashil Namoshi, other leaders, including Doddanagouda Patil, Ravikumar, B G Patil, Hanamant Nirani and Bandeppa Kashempur, JD(S) state working president Doddappagouda Patil Naribol were present.
