Karnataka: 5 held in Manmul skimmed milk adulteration case

Mandya: The Maddur police have arrested five people in connection with the case of adulteration of 57 tonnes of skimmed milk powder at Manmul (Mandya district co-operative milk union limited).

Five people were taken into custody for inquiry and two were suspended by Manmul in this regard.

Purchasing officer Pradeep Kumar Jadhav, system operator M Shruthi, Bhaskar insulation godown employee Ravi, milk powder loading and unloading workers Srinivas and K N Srinivasamurthy have been arrested. They have been remanded in judicial custody.

The prime accused in the case, Manmul milk powder unit chief (deputy manager) T Ramakrishna, is still at large.

Manmul managing director H R Raghu had suspended Jadhav and Ramakrishna on August 27 in connection with the adulteration case.

Suo motu case

Upa Lokayukta B Veerappa had conducted an inspection at the Manmul unit at Gejjalagere in Maddur taluk on August 28. Suo motu cases were filed against six people - Ramakrishna, Jadhav, Srikanth, Shashidhar, Shivakumar and Maddur police inspector Naveen.
