Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday asserted that India faces no shortage of fuel or gas and is fully prepared to handle any potential energy disruption arising from the ongoing tensions in West Asia.

Addressing a Sainik Samman Sammelan in poll-bound Kerala, he said the Indian Navy is actively escorting Indian tankers through the Strait of Hormuz to ensure safe passage amid the crisis.

He also highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leveraging diplomatic channels to safeguard India's interests in the Gulf region.

"We are closely monitoring the state of affairs in West Asia and are prepared to deal with any situation," Singh said.

Turning to domestic politics, he urged voters in Kerala to support the Bharatiya Janata Party in the upcoming Assembly elections, describing it as the right choice for bringing change to the state under what he called "Modiyude guarantees."

Praising the prime minister's leadership, Singh remarked, "His leadership is like 24-carat gold, it is tried and tested."

The Kerala Assembly elections, which cover all 140 seats, are scheduled to be held on April 9.
