One killed, 70 injured as bus topples near Hanur in Karnataka

Hanur (Chamarajanagar dist): One person was killed and 70 others injured after a private bus toppled, near Mandalli, in Hanur taluk, Chamarajanagar district.

Cleaner of the vehicle Naveen (30), of Doddinduvadi village, was killed on the spot.

More than 70 people from Shagya village, had gone to attend an engagement ceremony in Haniyuru village, near Kabbalu, in Kanakapura taluk. They were returning after the ceremony in the private bus. The bus toppled at a curve near Kothanuru-Mandalli, as the driver lost balance of the vehicle. Naveen, who got stuck below the bus died on the spot.

Another passenger Sunil suffered severe injuries on his legs. Locals rushed to the spot and rescued the people by liftng the bus with the excavator. The injured were shifted to the Holycross Hospital and government hospital in Kollegal.
