Mumbai Animal Save Activists took out an outreach at the Juhu Beach on 19th June 2022. The overall response was exhilarating with many people understanding why veganism is important and what difference it makes when one goes vegan. The group has consistently done these outreaches for the past few years and have created mass awareness through the same.

This time the outreach also focused on commemorating the memory of Regan Russel, a Canadian Animal Right Activist.

She was killed by an animal transporter after a demonstration outside Sofina Foods Inc., a pig slaughterhouse in Burlington, Ontario. The message outspoken was that her death should not go in vain.

The outreach commenced with a Vegan Food Giveaway to about 100 children in Andheri who are economically backward. Janvi Charitable Trust collaborated for distributing the food to the kids and joined hands with the noble cause. There were attractive Donald Duck figures representing the ideology of exploitation of farmed animals and to make kids envision that animals are our friends. They are sentient and feel pain and need their families. The team presented that basic Indian food like Misal Pav, vegan Sheera, and many plant-based foods can be delicious as well as affordable. Thus, busting the myths centered around vegan food being expensive.

The outreach then proceeded on a moving truck from Andheri and passed by the Airport Road with the activists and the Donald Duck Figure. This was accompanied by voicing a few ‘SLOGANS’ in different languages for the audience to understand, “EAT PLANTS, PLANT TRESS”; “JHAADE LAVA JHAADE KHAA”; “VEGAN JEEVAN SHAILA APNAYE, JANVAR AUR PARYAWARAN BACHAYE”. There were T-shirts worn by the activists mentioning “SAVE ANIMAL BEAR WITNESS GO VEGAN”, which is also the center motto of the Animal Save Movement.

At Juhu Beach, through Placards and Video Projections, awareness was propagated regarding nonhuman animal exploitation and the contribution done by many humans towards it. The audience was also made aware of Climate Change and the associated carbon footprint of Animal Agriculture. And finally, it was also mentioned about the Plant Based Treaty helps mitigate the climate crisis and is also a step toward switching to a Plant Based and Vegan Food system.
