New Delhi: The national capital experienced its first widespread heatwave of the season on Saturday, with temperatures soaring well above normal across the city.
The Safdarjung weather station recorded a high of 42.8°C-over 5 degrees above average-marking one of the hottest April days in recent years.

What Qualifies as a Heatwave?
According to weather guidelines:
Temperatures must exceed 40°C and be at least 4.5°C above normal, or Reach 45°C regardless of deviation
