New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially cancelled the NEET UG 2026 examination that was conducted across the country on May 3, 2026. The announcement was made through an official statement posted on the agency's X account on May 12, 2026.
According to the statement, the decision was taken with the approval of the Government of India after detailed inputs were examined in coordination with central agencies and law enforcement authorities. The agency stated that the current examination process "could not be allowed to stand," indicating serious concerns related to the conduct of the exam.
The move has created anxiety and uncertainty among lakhs of medical aspirants and their families, as NEET UG is one of India's largest entrance examinations for admission into MBBS, BDS and other medical courses.
NTA clarified that the re-examination schedule will be announced separately in the coming days. Along with the fresh exam dates, the revised admit-card release schedule will also be shared through official communication channels.
