Kohima: President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Nand Kishore Yadav as the new Governor of Nagaland, as announced on Thursday.
The announcement was made by Rashtrapati Bhavan and involves several states and Union Territories, including Nagaland, Delhi, Ladakh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh.
Yadav is a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He previously served as the 17th Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from 2024 to 2025. Earlier, he held key portfolios in the Government of Bihar, including road construction and health.
According to an official communiqué issued by the President's office, several governors and lieutenant governors have been transferred or newly appointed as part of the reshuffle. The appointments will take effect from the dates the respective appointees assume charge of their offices.
Among other changes, R. N. Ravi, the Governor of Tamil Nadu, has been appointed Governor of West Bengal, while Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, currently Governor of Kerala, will discharge the functions of the Governor of Tamil Nadu.
Vinai Kumar Saxena, the present Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, has been appointed Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. Former Indian ambassador to the United States Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been named the new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.

In another move, Shiv Pratap Shukla, currently Governor of Himachal Pradesh, has been appointed Governor of Telangana. Jishnu Dev Varma, the present Governor of Telangana, has been transferred and appointed Governor of Maharashtra.
Retired army officer Syed Ata Hasnain has been appointed Governor of Bihar.
In another change, Kavinder Gupta, the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, has been appointed Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
