With the revised allocation, the commission has recommended a total of 1,715 candidates for appointment, comprising 232 candidates for Stenographer Grade 'C' and 1,483 candidates for Stenographer Grade 'D'. The updated allocation has been prepared after addressing concerns raised by candidates regarding the skill test assessment and has been published in line with the revised allocation mechanism adopted by the commission.

The SSC had initially announced the first round of tentative allocation on June 18, 2026. However, the allocation was withdrawn a day later after several candidates highlighted alleged discrepancies in the evaluation of the Stenography Skill Test. Following a comprehensive review of the assessment process, the commission reassessed the results and has now released the revised allocation based on the sliding mechanism that was introduced earlier this year to ensure a fair and transparent allocation of posts.

According to the official notification, a total of 10,132 candidates who submitted their online preferences for posts and departments between May 5 and May 8, 2026, were considered during the revised allocation exercise. The commission stated that the allocation has been made strictly on the basis of candidates' merit, availability of vacancies and the order of preferences submitted by applicants during the preference-filling process.

SSC has also clarified the qualifying standards adopted for the Stenography Skill Test. For Stenographer Grade 'C', candidates belonging to the unreserved category were permitted a maximum error rate of up to 5 per cent, while candidates from reserved categories were allowed up to 7 per cent mistakes. For Stenographer Grade 'D', the permissible error limit was fixed at up to 7 per cent for unreserved candidates and up to 10 per cent for candidates belonging to reserved categories.

For the Stenographer Grade 'C' recruitment, all 232 notified vacancies have been filled through the revised allocation. The recommended candidates include 119 from the Unreserved (UR) category, 50 from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category, 27 from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category, 22 Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates and 14 Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, matching the category-wise vacancy distribution announced by the commission.

Similarly, the revised allocation for Stenographer Grade 'D' has filled all 1,483 vacancies notified for recruitment. The selected candidates include 711 from the Unreserved category, 350 from the OBC category, 146 from the EWS category, 190 SC candidates and 86 ST candidates, ensuring that every notified vacancy has been allocated according to the prescribed reservation policy.

Along with the revised First Round of Tentative Allocation, the Commission has also released the category-wise cut-off marks, marks obtained by the last shortlisted candidates, and the date of birth details of the final selected candidates for each ministry, department and cadre under both Stenographer Grade 'C' and Grade 'D'.

The SSC has also announced the schedule for the sliding process under the revised allocation. Candidates whose names appear in the revised First Round of Tentative Allocation must log in to the official SSC website and register for the sliding process by selecting their preferred venue, date, and time slot between August 4 and August 5, 2026. The physical sliding process will subsequently be conducted at designated SSC regional office centres on August 11 and August 12, 2026.
